Sweden's trade with Russia is limited. Exports account for 1.3 per cent of Sweden's total exports and imports for 1.4 per cent of imports of goods. Russia's economy accounts for 1.8 per cent of global GDP and exports from the EU to Russia account for 0.9 per cent of EU GDP.

Oil and gas are Russia's two major industries. Russia is the world's third largest oil producer and accounts for about one fifth of international trade in natural gas. Both Russia and Ukraine are also major exporters of wheat, barley, maize, and fertilisers.
