Lagos is Africa's most populous city and is often referred to as the 'Silicon Valley of Africa.' With over 20 million residents, the city is home to a thriving tech ecosystem that has produced some of Africa's most successful startups. This is a city that presents significant opportunities for Swedish companies.
The purpose of the bi-annual Nordic-Nigeria Connect is to connect the Nordic countries with Nigeria. The event takes place every other year and serves as a platform for exchange, collaboration, and partnerships between Nordic and Nigerian stakeholders, gathering 300 participants in politics and business, promoting growth in Africa's largest economy.
Each edition focuses on specific themes and industries, promoting innovation and sustainability. This year, Sweden's thematic agenda is circularity and innovation to address sustainability challenges in areas such as waste, energy, transport and mobility. Sweden’s delegation will be led by Per-Arne Hjelmborn, Director General for Trade at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On the 14th of November, the event begins with prominent Nordic ministers and business leaders sharing their best practices and insights into their success. The discussions will also revolve around funding new Nordic-Nigerian success stories and the transition to a circular economy. The event will include section discussions on topics like circularity, innovation, digital transformation, sustainability, and the future of the food system, offering participants a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences for navigating the African market.
On the 15th of November, the Nordic embassies will organize a tailored program for participating companies, including company visits to Lagos Free Zone and bilateral meetings with Lagos State Governor.
As follow-up to the Nordic-Nigeria, there will be the 3rd edition of the high-level Nigerian Ministerial and Business Delegation to Sweden in 2024 called Sweden-Nigeria Business Forum during Spring 2024.
