On Friday afternoon, the Swedish pavilion at COP28 in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai, will be inaugurated, with, among others, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson participating alongside Business Sweden's CEO Jan Larsson.

Business Sweden's mission is to gather leading actors from the business sector, politics, public sector, and academia to accelerate the leading innovations and solutions required to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement. The role of Swedish business is crucial for the climate transition but cannot solve the climate crisis alone. All positive forces are needed to drive development forward, and the Swedish pavilion serves as a platform for meetings and discussions among different actors, such as decision-makers, civil society, academia, and the business sector.

Jan Larsson, CEO of Business Sweden:

"The business sector alone cannot solve the climate crisis, but our Swedish companies are a significant force in the pursuit of a sustainable future – and they can inspire other companies and countries to do more. In a world filled with challenges and doubts, they serve as a reminder that the solutions needed to transform actually exist. The climate transition is not only possible, but it also creates new opportunities for business and jobs," he says.

Over the next two weeks, world leaders will gather to negotiate and agree on actions to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement. Cross-border and cross-sector collaborations and partnerships between the public and private sectors are crucial for this.

The companies in the delegation have two main goals – to show that Sweden has solutions to prevent the worst effects of the climate crisis and to encourage legislation and policy frameworks that facilitate the scaling up of such solutions.
