SKF, enabling energy transition

The energy transition needed to mitigate climate risk concerns generation, storage and distribution as well as efficiency of energy. SKF is offering solutions to enable transformation in all areas.

More than one-third of the world’s CO2 emissions originate from the building-sector. Heating, cooling, and ventilation account for more than 35% of the total energy use in buildings. Here SKF is enabling the industry to make a step change by shifting to magnetic bearing technology and cut energy use by 10-20%.

The installation of chillers with SKF magnetic bearings in our factory in Xinchang, China, saves 60 GWh over the chiller life span corresponding to more than 35.000 tons of avoided CO2e emissions.

This case demonstrates how industrial innovation can support Sweden’s COP 30 call to action - accelerating clean technology deployment, mobilizing investment in energy efficiency, and fostering international collaboration for equitable energy transitions.
