Ectogrid
Best practices
Ectogrid is a Swedish innovation that is nowadays implemented across Europe. The image shows the project Silvertown in London Silvertown: E.ON’s Ectogrid™ to bring low-carbon energy to London.
Tripling renewables and doubling efficiency were key outcomes of COP28. E.ON operates 1.6 million kilometers of energy networks in Europe and supplies around 48 million customers with energy. This gives us a special responsibility to reach those targets. With E.ON ectogrid™ we help city districts and industries cut energy use by up to 75%. Waste heat is recovered and reused locally, and energy is shared between buildings through a low-temperature grid. Our digital platform ensures the system always runs as efficiently as possible. Since it’s powered by electricity, it can use renewable and local energy – reducing emissions and supporting both efficiency and climate targets.
