The future of mobility is increasingly defined by software – and KPIT Technologies is at the forefront of this transformation. As a global software integration partner to the automotive and mobility ecosystem, KPIT supports leading OEMs in realising clean, smart, and safe vehicles.
With operations spanning the US, Europe, Japan, China, Thailand, and India, KPIT chose Sweden as its strategic OEM base – including Volvo Cars, AB Volvo, and Scania – all of which are driving next-generation vehicle innovation.
But with limited previous presence in Sweden, KPIT needed local insight to determine the right level of investment and a timeline for expected business returns.
Building local presence fast
To navigate the market entry, Business Sweden launched a joint SWAT team in Sweden and India to support KPIT’s executive team. Together, they built a robust business case for board approval, mapped out infrastructure needs, and connected KPIT with the right ecosystem stakeholders.
“The Business Sweden team was incredibly supportive in providing KPIT with a platform to establish our presence in Sweden. From local insights to key connections, the partnership helped us jumpstart our journey in this innovative and technology-centric market.”“We were reintroducing ourselves in a critical market and needed a fast understanding of OEM priorities,” says a KPIT representative. “Business Sweden’s team helped us gain that clarity quickly and guided us to take the right steps.”
The collaboration included strategic introductions to local suppliers, office space providers, government agencies, and forums that aligned with KPIT’s ambitions. This helped KPIT set up a Gothenburg office and begin outreach to potential clients in just four months.
Business Sweden provided strategic advisory, market validation, location selection, stakeholder introductions, strategic introductions to regional partners, local suppliers, office space providers, and local setup support through its Investment Promotion team.
With the new base established, KPIT is now working closely with Swedish OEMs to deliver high-value software solutions that can be deployed globally. According to Satish Kumar, Senior Vice President at KPIT, Business Sweden played a key role in helping the company establish its local presence: “The Business Sweden team was incredibly supportive in providing KPIT with a platform to establish our presence in Sweden. From local insights to key connections, the partnership helped us jumpstart our journey in this innovative and technology-centric market.”
He adds: “We look forward to deeper integration within Sweden’s mobility ecosystem –leveraging our capabilities to support local mobility companies and harnessing the country’s potential to develop technology solutions for our global partners.”

With a new base established, KPIT is now working closely with Swedish OEMs to deliver high-value software solutions that can be deployed globally.
“Our goal is to co-create software in Sweden that accelerates the global transition to software-defined vehicles,” KPIT states. “Thanks to Business Sweden’s support, we’ve made fast progress and been welcomed into the ecosystem as a trustworthy provider.”
