A consistent economic performer, Chile’s GDP growth is expected to be solid over the next three years. As Sweden’s third-largest trading partner in Latin America, the two countries share a long-standing and multifaceted relationship rooted in shared values such as democracy and mutual respect that has only deepened over time.

This report presents the inaugural edition of our Business Climate Survey of Swedish companies operating in Chile. Overall results have been strongly positive and outlooks for the future are largely optimistic, with 81 per cent of respondents reporting profitability and 78 per cent expecting their turnover to increase in 2025.

Chile signed a new bilateral roadmap with Sweden in 2024, laying the groundwork for intensified commercial ties and collaboration based on complementing Swedish expertise and Chilean resources. This unlocks opportunities for Swedish companies in sectors connected to the green transition and electromobility.

The ‘Swedish brand’ is a key driver of business success for Swedish companies in Chile in the Chilean market. Overall, the findings indicate that the Swedish image remains a significant asset. In Chile, there’s a strong association of Swedish companies with high-quality products and services, combined with a commitment to innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility.

Chile continues to strengthen its enduring partnership with Sweden through numerous bilateral agreements and joint initiatives, demonstrating the commitment of both countries to open dialogue, mutual respect, and cooperation across a broad spectrum of areas. The most recent of which promotes collaboration in green technologies, sustainable mining, and transport innovation, but also academic exchange.

ABOUT THE SURVEY

Team Sweden conducted this Business Climate Survey for Chile to provide a comprehensive overview of the current business climate for Swedish companies in Chile, highlighting opportunities, challenges, and the evolving landscape of bilateral cooperation. The survey featured the participation of 36 Swedish companies active in the Chilean market. The respondents represent a variety of business profiles and sizes.
