The Nordic region plays a vital role in Swedish business, accounting for approximately 24 per cent of Sweden’s total goods exports and 22 per cent of its imports.

Sweden and Norway offer complementary strengths that form a solid foundation for collaboration. Sweden leads in manufacturing, automotive, engineering, technology, and entrepreneurship, while Norway excels in maritime industries, offshore technology, the process sector, and electrification.

Swedish companies operating in Norway are experiencing growing success. In 2024, 80 per cent reported profitability—an increase from 65 per cent in 2023. Many of these companies focus on customer-facing activities such as marketing and sales and the Swedish brand continues to resonate strongly with Norwegian consumers.

There is also a growing recognition of the strategic importance of the broader Nordic market. Businesses are placing greater emphasis on regional cooperation, viewing it as essential for enhancing competitiveness and building resilience in an evolving global economy.
