This report constitutes the 2025 edition of the Business Climate Survey of Swedish companies operating in Taiwan. It shows perceptions of Taiwan’s overall business climate improved significantly, with 53 per cent of respondents rating conditions as either good or very good and 74 per cent of respondents expecting industry turnover to grow – the highest levels of business confidence and industry optimism in three years.

Taiwan's economy is maintaining momentum following a year of renewed growth. After falling below 2 per cent in 2023, Taiwan's GDP growth rebounded in 2024 to 4.6 per cent and is projected to be  3.1 per cent in 2025. Along with a base effect from the 2024 upswing, the slowdown can also be attributed to tariff-related uncertainties, persistently high global interest rates, and lingering geopolitical tensions. That its main metric for economic growth can still remain so high is a testament to the strength of Taiwan’s opportunities for Swedish companies.

The ‘Swedish brand’ is a competitive asset for companies operating in Taiwan. The findings indicate that there was a slight decline from 2023 and 2024, but the overall feedback shows the Swedish image remains consistently strong. On an industry level, companies in industrial equipment gave the most favourable ratings, highlighting the brand’s alignment with core purchasing criteria such as quality, durability, and engineering precision.

Taiwan’s position in worldwide technology gives it critical relevance for sectors aligned closely with Sweden's key industries and areas of innovation, such as renewable energy, AI-based technologies, electric vehicles, and intelligent health. And while aspects of sustainability remain pertinent in Taiwan’s market, there are persistent challenges in implementing sustainable operations due to regulatory fragmentation, high costs, and increasing demands for verified data.
