Team Sweden is a joint way of working and a collaborative platform that strengthens Sweden’s trade and investment promotion efforts.

By bringing together government agencies, state-owned companies, regional actors and the private sector, Team Sweden enables a more coordinated, efficient, and business-oriented approach to international promotion.

The Swedish Government launched Team Sweden in 2015 as part of Sweden’s export strategy. The aim was to create a more coordinated and business-oriented structure within the public promotion system, making it more effective and accessible for companies.

At least one governmental agency or state-owned company with a clear promotion mandate must participate in order to call it a Team Sweden constellation. Other partners such as private sector organisations, academia, and industry associations can be involved when relevant.

Today, Team Sweden constellations exist both in Sweden and around the world, where actors collaborate across priority sectors, markets, and thematic areas. The network help Swedish companies navigate the promotion system and access the right support for their international expansion. At the same time, it fosters transparency, participation, and a shared direction among the actors working to strengthen Sweden’s exports, investments, and international image.

TeamSweden.se – a joint platform

The website TeamSweden.se serves as the platform that showcases all existing Team Sweden constellations.

Business Sweden manages the Team Sweden brand and website on behalf of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Each constellation, however, operates under its own project management. On TeamSweden.se, all current constellations are presented alongside relevant news, delegations and events, offering a transparent and up-to-date overview of how Team Sweden cooperates, nationally and internationally.

The platform is continuously updated and aims towards Swedish companies, public agencies, regions, and organisations interested in understanding or joining Team Sweden collaborations, as well as international stakeholders seeking a clear view of Sweden’s trade and investment promotion landscape.

The structure of Team Sweden

Team Sweden consists of several constellations, each gathering relevant actors around a defined purpose. Every constellation should have a clear structure, coordinator, mandate, and follow-up process (preferably with KPIs), and meet regularly, at least twice per year.

To qualify as a Team Sweden constellation, at least one government agency or state-owned company with a formal promotion mandate must participate. Other stakeholders, including industry representatives, academia, and business organisations, may be involved when relevant.

The constellations are broadly grouped into four thematic areas:

  • Industries: Sector-specific collaborations
  • Trade & Invest: Export and investment promotion
  • Swedish Regions: Regional export collaboration within Sweden
  • Global Network: Geographical constellations and networks outside Sweden
National, project and international collaboration

In Sweden, the work is carried out through thematic and regional groups that coordinate export and investment efforts.

Internationally, embassies and consulates form the foundation of Team Sweden, often in close cooperation with Business Sweden, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and Swedish companies. The constellations are integrated into the embassies’ promotional plans and reflect Sweden’s priority markets.

Delegation trips under the Team Sweden brand are used as a strategic tool to advance Swedish interests abroad and may include representatives from the Royal Family, government ministers, agencies, and businesses.

Team Sweden groups may evolve over time, as collaborations are often linked to specific projects with a defined start and end. Some groups are temporary and created to address a particular opportunity or priority, while others are long-term partnerships that continue as new initiatives emerge.
