Spain remains a strategically important market for Swedish companies, supported by its diversified economy, strong infrastructure and role as one of Europe’s largest economies. Well-established trade links, broad sector opportunities and strong domestic demand continue to support Swedish business engagement across industries.
At the same time, companies operate in a more demanding environment. Administrative complexity, labour market regulations and housing-related constraints remain key challenges affecting operational planning and day-to-day business activities.
Investment sentiment remains positive, with more than half of surveyed companies planning to increase investments over the next 12 months. Large and medium-sized companies continue to drive investment activity, reflecting confidence in Spain’s long-term business potential.
Competitiveness in Spain is closely linked to sales competence, brand awareness and cost efficiency. The Swedish brand continues to be a valuable asset, particularly in sectors where sustainability, quality and reliability are highly valued.
Swedish companies generally perceive Spain’s business climate as increasingly positive compared with 2025. Companies report high satisfaction with personal safety, suppliers, service providers and distributors, while bureaucracy and regulatory complexity continue to receive lower assessments.
Sustainability considerations remain integrated into business operations and customer expectations, although environmental factors continue to play a more moderate role in purchasing decisions for many customers. Reported exposure to corruption and human or labour rights abuses remains limited.
