As one of the fastest-growing economies in Asia, Vietnam continues to attract foreign investment and strengthen its role in global value chains. Strong manufacturing growth, increasing foreign direct investment, and continued digitalisation create significant opportunities for Swedish companies across sectors such as energy, industrial equipment, healthcare, technology, and professional services.
At the same time, companies continue to face structural challenges. Customs procedures, regulatory complexity, permits and approvals, and administrative inefficiencies remain key barriers affecting operations and investment decisions. Companies also point to regulatory uncertainty and infrastructure gaps as ongoing concerns.
Cooperation between Sweden and Vietnam continues to deepen in areas such as renewable energy, industrial development, healthcare, sustainability, and innovation. Vietnam’s green transition and growing focus on advanced technology, electrification, and digitalisation continue to create opportunities for Swedish companies offering sustainable and high-value solutions.
Competitiveness in Vietnam is closely linked to product development, brand awareness, partnerships, cost efficiency, and strong sales capabilities. The Swedish brand continues to be associated with innovation, quality, sustainability, and trustworthiness.
Vietnam is widely regarded as an attractive and dynamic market with strong economic momentum and growing opportunities. At the same time, companies continue to highlight customs procedures, regulatory complexity, and administrative processes as areas requiring further improvement.

ABOUT THE SURVEY
To assess the opportunities and challenges faced by Swedish companies in international markets, Team Sweden conducts annual Business Climate Surveys across multiple markets worldwide. This year’s survey in Vietnam includes responses from 33 Swedish companies operating in the country. Professional services companies represent a significant share of respondents, while industrial and consumer companies also make up a considerable share. Many respondents are relatively recent entrants to the Vietnamese market, although several companies have also operated in the country for decades.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to all participating companies and respondents who contributed to this report. Team Sweden in Vietnam hopes that the findings will serve as a basis for continued dialogue with Vietnamese authorities and other relevant stakeholders.
