As one of Latin America’s largest economies and a key manufacturing and trade hub, Mexico continues to offer significant opportunities for Swedish companies. Its strategic location, extensive trade links, large consumer market, and strong industrial base make it an attractive destination across multiple sectors.

At the same time, companies describe a more demanding operating environment. Regulatory uncertainty, customs procedures, trade-related complexity, and security concerns continue to affect competitiveness and expansion plans. Companies also point to administrative barriers and policy uncertainty as ongoing challenges.

Cooperation between Sweden and Mexico remains strong within sectors such as industrial equipment, automotive, mining, energy, telecommunications, healthcare, and consumer goods. Mexico’s continued focus on industrial development, infrastructure, energy transition, and nearshoring continues to create opportunities for Swedish companies offering innovative and sustainable solutions.

Competitiveness in Mexico is closely linked to sales competence, partnerships, brand awareness, and operational efficiency. The Swedish brand continues to be associated with quality, reliability, innovation, and sustainability.

Mexico remains an attractive market with strong industrial capabilities, a large domestic market, and deep integration into North American value chains. However, companies continue to point to regulatory complexity, customs-related barriers, and policy uncertainty as key challenges.
