As one of Latin America’s leading mining economies and a key supplier of minerals essential to the energy transition, Peru continues to offer significant opportunities for Swedish companies. Demand for advanced industrial equipment, automation, electrification, sustainable mining solutions, and infrastructure development remains strong.

At the same time, companies report a more complex operating environment. Political uncertainty ahead of the 2026 general elections, customs procedures, regulatory barriers, and taxation continue to affect competitiveness and investment decisions. Infrastructure and transparency are also highlighted as areas requiring improvement.

Cooperation between Sweden and Peru remains particularly strong within mining, industrial equipment, energy, healthcare, and digital solutions. Swedish companies continue to support Peru’s industrial modernisation and sustainability ambitions through advanced technologies, innovation, and responsible business practices.

Competitiveness in Peru is closely linked to sales competence, cost efficiency, staff development, and strong customer relationships. The Swedish brand remains highly valued and continues to be associated with quality, innovation, sustainability, and reliability.

Peru is widely regarded as a market with strong long-term potential and solid macroeconomic fundamentals. However, companies also point to political uncertainty, structural bottlenecks, and regulatory complexity as ongoing challenges.
