As a well-integrated economy within the European Union and an important manufacturing hub in Central Europe, Slovakia continues to offer significant opportunities for Swedish companies. Strong industrial capabilities, established supply chains, and a strategic location support Slovakia’s role across sectors such as automotive, advanced manufacturing, professional services, and healthcare.

At the same time, companies report a more challenging operating environment. Regulatory complexity, labour market constraints, corporate taxation, and weaker perceptions of digitalisation continue to affect competitiveness and operational efficiency. Companies also point to broader uncertainty and rising cost pressures as ongoing challenges.

Cooperation between Sweden and Slovakia remains strong within sectors such as automotive, industrial manufacturing, ICT, healthcare, and sustainable technologies. Slovakia’s continued focus on industrial development, productivity improvements, and sustainability transition continues to create opportunities for Swedish companies offering innovative and high-value solutions.

Competitiveness in Slovakia is closely linked to cost efficiency, sales competence, strong partnerships, customer engagement, and operational execution. The Swedish brand continues to be associated with quality, reliability, sustainability, and innovation.

Slovakia is widely regarded as a stable and well-established market with strong industrial networks and reliable operational conditions. However, companies also point to regulatory barriers, taxation, and administrative complexity as continued constraints on competitiveness and investment.
