As one of the more dynamic economies in the Middle East and North Africa region, Morocco continues to offer opportunities supported by political stability, a strategic location, infrastructure development, and ongoing economic reforms. For many Swedish companies, Morocco serves as a growing domestic market and as a gateway to broader regional opportunities.

At the same time, survey results point to a more complex operating environment. Companies highlight customs procedures, regulatory barriers, and administrative complexity as key challenges affecting efficiency and operational flexibility.

Cooperation between Sweden and Morocco continues to grow in sectors such as renewable energy, transportation, telecommunications, infrastructure, mining, and industrial solutions. Morocco’s investments in energy transition, logistics, and industrial development continue to create opportunities for Swedish companies offering sustainable and innovative technologies.

Competitiveness in Morocco is closely linked to strong brand awareness, cost efficiency, sales competence, and long-term customer relationships. The Swedish brand remains strongly associated with quality, reliability, innovation, and trusted partnerships.

Morocco is widely viewed as a stable and increasingly attractive market with improving infrastructure and strong operational conditions. At the same time, companies point to the importance of continued progress in regulatory efficiency, transparency, and digital readiness.

ABOUT THE SURVEY

To assess the opportunities and challenges faced by Swedish companies in international markets, Team Sweden conducts annual Business Climate Surveys across multiple markets worldwide. This year’s survey in Morocco includes responses from 15 Swedish companies operating in the country. Nearly half of the respondents represent industrial companies, while professional services and consumer goods companies also make up a significant share. The vast majority have been active in Morocco for more than five years.
