The initiative, led by the Embassy of Sweden and Business Sweden together with Colombia’s Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism and ProColombia, brings together business, government, academia and civil society to turn strong bilateral ties into concrete business opportunities.

The forum, set to convene annually with its first edition in early 2027, builds on more than 150 years of cooperation between Sweden and Colombia. Trade and investment are already growing rapidly: Swedish investments reached USD 124.9 million in 2025, while Colombian exports to Sweden increased by 29 percent.

In connection with the launch, Business Sweden and ProColombia signed a memorandum of understanding to further boost bilateral trade and investment flows.

Bilateral relations work best when they are based on complementarity. Sweden provides high-value technology, innovation capabilities, and advanced industrial solutions, while Colombia offers market opportunities, talent, and a strategic position in key sectors for the green transition. The objective of the Sweden–Colombia Business Forum is precisely to consolidate a long-term platform that transforms dialogue into a strategic partnership, with projects and concrete initiatives that generate value for both countries,” says Peter Ekdahl, Vice President Americas, Business Sweden.

Sweden and Colombia share a strong commitment to sustainable growth and open trade. Through this forum, we are creating a platform to connect companies and accelerate business opportunities that benefit both countries,” says Yazmin Maya, Country Manager Colombia, Business Sweden.

Today, Swedish companies employ more than 27,000 people in Colombia, underlining the country’s importance as a long-term market for Swedish business.
