How many Swedish companies operate in the Middle East?

A substantial number of Swedish companies are active in the region. Approximately 200 Swedish companies operate in the UAE, and around 60 in Saudi Arabia. Swedish businesses also maintain a presence in several other Middle Eastern markets, with levels of activity differing by industry and local conditions.

The Middle East remains a strategically significant region for Swedish trade. In 2025, the region accounted for around 1.2 per cent of Sweden’s total trade in goods, equivalent to SEK 49.5 billion. 

  • Trade with the United Arab Emirates totalled SEK 18.1 billion 
  • Trade with Saudi Arabia totalled SEK 13.5 billion
