Sweden’s startup community is recognised for turning out top talent and big ideas – some of which have catapulted onto the global stage and flourished into billion-dollar tech companies.

The country’s capital Stockholm proved the point in the 2010s when it earned the nickname “the unicorn factory” following the global successes of the likes of Spotify, Klarna and Mojang. The story now continues with a new wave of Swedish entrepreneurs in the international vanguard.

SPRINGBOARD FOR GLOBAL GROWTH

Going Global is Business Sweden’s growth programme which helps startups and scaleups jumpstart their expansion journey and connect with key players in the innovation ecosystem. It is designed around three sub-initiatives: Leap Accelerator, Catalyst and Outreach.

Our team of business developers brings together brilliant minds with international investors, industry leaders, government agencies, public institutes and embassies abroad.

The programme is backed by the Swedish government and aims to provide a platform for matchmaking, practical support and exchange of ideas, while hosting and promoting a wide range of outreach activities within the startup world.

CO-CREATION: THE KEY FORMULA

Going Global’s outreach activities revolve around the Sweden Co-Lab concept which underscores the necessity and power of collaboration when solving today’s real-world problems.

From reinventing business models to making a sustainability leap – pooling together talent and resources is key to disrupting and reinventing outdated practices. This is demonstrated by Sweden’s thriving startup scene.

Focusing on the key elements thought leadership, experience and matchmaking, Sweden Co-Lab (“Co” for co-creation, “Lab” for innovation) showcases Sweden’s strengths as a greenhouse for new ideas. The concept also sets the scene for our participation each year at the world’s leading tech events.
