SINGAPORE-SWEDEN ENERGY COLLABORATION
WHAT
- Asia is a priority region under Sweden’s Strategy for Trade, Investment and Global Competitiveness. Swedish companies — ranging from startups to global industry leaders — increasingly view Southeast Asia as a key growth market for exports and a critical platform for advancing decarbonisation efforts. The energy sector plays a leading role in this transition.
- This strategic focus was reinforced during the Swedish state visit to Singapore in 2024, marked by the signing of a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) covering collaboration in energy generation and transmission. The agreement reflects a shared commitment to accelerating the green transition and strengthening regional energy connectivity.
- Through this partnership, Sweden and Singapore have the opportunity to deepen cooperation in clean energy technologies, innovation, and cross-border energy solutions, supporting sustainable growth and long-term energy resilience across the region.
HOW
- In 2025, bilateral engagements across the energy ecosystems of both countries increased significantly, reflecting strong momentum in collaboration. Key activities included SIEWConnects@Stockholm, the Singapore–Sweden Forum held during Singapore International Energy Week, and the Energy Market Authority’s (EMA) visit to Sweden.
- Building on this strong foundation, 2026 will focus on leveraging these connections to deepen partnerships, expand industry engagement, and advance concrete joint initiatives that stakeholders across both ecosystems can pursue together.
