Jakarta Bus Rapid Transit Electrification
WHAT
The Indonesian government has set a vision for the scope and pace of electrification of public transportation.
- The Jakarta Provincial Government mandates TransJakarta, the bus operator, to transform its entire fleet of 10,047 diesel buses to electric vehicles (EV) by 2030. The total investment value, including its charging infrastructure, is around 2.1 billion USD.
- Potential procurement and retrofit of 10,047 electric buses by TransJakarta by 2030.
- Potential procurement of 88 MW of electric bus charging infrastructure consisting of a transformer step-down, MV Panel, LV Panel, and controller.
HOW
- High-level dialogue: Leverage the G2G framework to engage key stakeholders on building Swedish’s solutions awareness and pursuing projects
- Roundtable dialogues and workshops with suggested thematic topics across the year.
- Together with Swedfund and NIR, deliver technical assistance and capacity development programs to key stakeholders to support their electrification transformation.
- Indonesian delegation visit to Sweden in 2026 to observe electric public transport system
- Support for potential pilot projects of Swedish companies with Jakarta BRT management.
- SISP Conference and Achievements Showcase to highlight concluded B2G and B2B agreements under Sweden-Indonesia collaboration.
- Business Sweden, together with Team Sweden (Embassy of Sweden, Swedfund, NIR, etc.), is organizing Sweden-Indonesia Sustainable Partner (SISP) platform to promote Swedish solutions and capture business opportunities within Indonesia’s transportation electrification.
